Suffolk Sails was started by Jim Welland after partnering Clarence ‘Austin’ Farrar at Seahorse Sails and later Austin Farrars Sailmakers. Suffolk Sails started life in a small workshop next door to Robertsons boatyard on the river Deben in Woodbridge, liable to flooding it wasn’t long before the loft moved to it’s current premises down river next door to the famous Tidemill in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
Currently owned and run by Simon Scammell who worked at Dolphin Sails before joining Suffolk Sails in 1998.
Simon in the past has campaigned a laser 5000 coming 1st at open meetings and 3rd at the national championships. Recently Simon has been seen on board his 18 foot skiff in which he won best newcomer.
